Day 3 of our Southern Tour took us through the Mount Aspiring National Park and though the Haast Pass. We stopped at a popular point along the way to see the Blue Pools. They had hopes of swimming, but don't know what to expect of the water until we get down there.
It was a beautiful walk down to the pools. Ava and Alyssa were the first ones to head down the trail.
Kayla and Savannah weren't far behind and quickly overtook them.
This video above shows some of the trail along the path.
Got to this swinging bridge across a section of water before we made it to the pools. Lots of people and narrow bridge.
These stacked up rocks were so interesting. It must be the popular thing to do. There were hundreds of stacks all over the area where the pools were.
The air was warm and the water was beautiful, but when they put their toes in, it was FRIDGED!! They decided that there wouldn't be any swimming, just some toes in.
The water was SO blue, obviously since it's called the BLUE POOLS!!
The girls decided to add to the stacking rocks
The bright blue pools and the bridge above it. We had seen on youtube before we left that some people jump off this bridge. Brady decided he would try, even though it was super cold.
videos of Brady's jump
I told Kayla to get in this tree as it was hallowed out and you could climb inside. However, rarely can she just pose, it has to be a stretch or a dance pose every time. Funny girl.
It was a great hike and we enjoyed seeing the beautiful blue of the pools. Brady had warmed up from his polar jump and we were ready to hit the road for our next stop.
